Shinsei Bank and KAL Redefine Japanese
ATM Banking Experience
January 2006
Tokyo, Japan - KAL has announced a series of major
Automated Teller Machine (ATM) innovations that are now deployed
to the Shinsei Bank ATM network in Japan. These innovations
provide value-added financial services to the bank's customers
and expand its customer-focused business model.
The Kalignite ATM Solution provides multi-screen ATMs with
full cash-recycling, advertising, software distribution, and
remote ATM monitoring.
The Kalignite ATM application at Shinsei is Japan's first
ever ATM application with support for the international XFS
standard. KAL implemented version 3 of the XFS standard which
enables a single ATM application to operate on ATMs manufactured
by OKI, Fujitsu and Hitachi.Shinsei Bank's ATM network is
the world's first "multi-vendor" ATM application with cash
recycling capability - this Application has been running live
since June 2004.
Shinsei Bank also became the first Japanese domestic bank
to accept non-Japanese ATM cards at its machines.
Aravinda Korala, CEO of KAL, said "It is fantastic to work
with such an innovative bank to create an ATM solution that
includes so many advanced features. It gives KAL an opportunity
to work with a highly creative and customer-focused Bank in
the very competitive Japanese market. This achievement is
made even more significant by the fact that Shinsei Bank chose
to use a non-Japanese company to supply them with very critical
technology."
