Another World's First...KAL incorporates Finger Vein Biometric Recognition into multi-vendor ATM and kiosk solutions

KAL, world leaders in ATM software, have recently announced the incorporation of Hitachi Omron Technology Services (HOTS) Finger Vein (FV) Biometric recognition technology into KAL’s multivendor ATM and kiosk solutions.

Finger Vein Recognition is a highly effective security technology which uses vein recognition to create the optimum security solution for ATM This technology is highly reliable and accurate and offers demonstrably higher performance when compared with other biometric technologies. The impact of FVR on the ATM solutions market is clearly demonstrated by Japanese banks rolling out the technology across the country. KAL are delighted to incorporate and support this emerging technology to the global marketplace for ATM and Kiosk projects.

Aravinda Korala of KAL says “FVR is an exciting technology since it provides such a high degree of security for both the bank and the end user and it is very easy to use. One of the best ways of using FVR in ATM projects is to make its usage optional to consumers and then provide an incentive through higher withdrawal limits for FVR authenticated transactions when compared with PIN verified transactions. Perhaps the most exciting aspect of FVR technology is that banks can retrofit existing ATMs with an FVR reader and consequently do not need to wait for the ATM replacement cycle to purchase FVR-enabled ATMs”.
