At the European ATMs 2016 conference, held at the Lancaster London Hotel in mid-June, KAL’s Audrey Priami and Maxim Dareshin, who is head of self-service systems development at Alfa-Bank (Russia), gave a presentation on the astounding growth of contactless transactions at the ATM across Europe, and also spoke more specifically about KAL’s recent work with Alfa-Bank on its contactless project.
Using KAL ATM Software, Alfa-Bank enabled the contactless readers on its ATMs so that customers can perform transactions by simply tapping their card and entering a PIN. Customers can now make withdrawals, as well as deposits, using contactless technology. This is much quicker than contact cards, making it particularly useful at busy ATMs.
Audrey and Maxim told the conference that the project, which began in April 2015 and was completed by November, involved the conversion of 160 of Alfa’s 3500 ATMs to contactless enabled. The bank consequently recorded an increase in ATM usage and in the number of transactions carried out.
The bank’s aim is to now further increase its number of contactless enabled ATMs so it is fully prepared for the oncoming contactless revolution.
