KAL, BCI and Belltech came together to present the benefits of running one, standardized ATM software application at European ATMs 2013, held in London on June 5-6.
Using a range of case studies from South America, the presentations looked at the reasons the approach has helped banks manage their ATM networks more effectively and eliminate fraud, whilst significantly improving the customer experience.
The flexibility of a single software application has particularly benefited South American banks given their particular regional requirements. For instance, historic card from skimming has resulted in the rollout of several innovative anti-fraud solutions including Magneprint, anti-skimmers, alarms and secondary biometric identification. Additionally, South American banks typically offer much more ATM transactions such as cheque deposit, bill payments, charity donations and salary payments, and EMV compliance is in its early stages with Chile being one of the region’s early adopters.
BCI presented on how KAL and Belltech helped to transform the pan-regional ATM network, implementing one common software environment that makes deployment, management and monitoring across multiple delivery channels easy. Network security increased and card-skimming fraud has been eliminated to ZERO. EMV was also implemented smoothly in a short 6-month time frame across the bank’s ATMs. BCI was recently named 2012’s Chilean Bank of the Year by The Banker and ranked first in a list of the Most Innovative Companies in Chile.
