KAL Joins EPASOrg to Standardize a Global ATM Transaction Protocol

KAL has joined EPASOrg, a European organization that aims to establish a series of global standards for payment cards including the ATM-to-host message protocol.

Established in 2009, EPASOrg previously standardized universal protocols for POS terminals and is now due to hold its first ever ATM workgroup meeting on the 9thsup> of July in Paris.

EPAS Acquirer and TMS specifications are XML-based and built on the ISO20022 standard which is widely regarded today as being the future of financial transaction messaging. EPASOrg and the IFX Forum recently agreed to collaborate in creating this new global standard for ATMs. The creation of one global standard offers huge opportunities for banks to cut costs by eliminating the need to support multiple protocols across countries.

As the world’s leading ATM software company, KAL is at the forefront of the movement towards standardization of ATM networks. KAL’s solutions have helped some of the world’s mega banks create more manageable, agile and cost effective networks that greatly enhance the user experience.

Aravinda Korala, CEO of KAL, said: “Naturally we are delighted to join EPASOrg. The fact that national regulators from France, Italy and Germany are already represented on the technical committee gives us confidence that this standard will find wide acceptance in Europe, while the collaboration with the IFX Forum will greatly help with North American adoption.”

KAL would like to encourage interested banks and solution providers to take part in the standards committee. Please contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots.
