KAL talks up Graduate Apprenticeships

KAL recently took part in an event at Edinburgh Napier University to promote the Graduate Apprenticeships scheme.

The training programme, offered by 14 universities and colleges in Scotland, makes it possible for students to study for their degree while also working full time.

KAL was one of the first employers to take on Graduate Apprentices and so was well-placed to offer their advice to other companies considering signing up.

Duncan Mann, Global HR Director at KAL, attended the event to give an employer’s perspective on the scheme. He said it benefitted the company as well as the students. “Previously, anyone who was employed at KAL as a software engineer needed to have a degree. Graduate Apprenticeships offered us a pipeline of people who would be working with us for four years and then hopefully stay on when they completed their apprenticeship.”
