KAL wins Outstanding Business Growth Award at Scotsoft 2010

On the 30th September 2010 KAL, the Edinburgh-based ATM software specialists, beat a field of 14 of Scotland’s best technology companies to win the Outstanding Business Growth Award at the annual ScotlandIS ScotSoft Awards Dinner.

KAL’s CEO, Dr Aravinda Korala, received the Award from Alastair Balfour, chairman of sponsors 2in10 Ltd, during a ceremony at Edinburgh’s Sheraton Hotel attended by over 400 technology industry specialists.

Balfour highlighted KAL’s remarkable track record which in the past year saw sales of its software systems to banks in countries as far apart as China, Chile, Thailand, Japan and the US – where it beat global competition to win the contract to supply the giant Citibank with the software system to run thousandsof its ATM machines in 28 countries.

“We all know in Scotland that we need more successful exporting companies,” added Balfour.

“But in KAL, and more than a dozen other great companies that enteredour Awards competition, we surely have brilliant exemplars to demonstrate thatwe are perfectly capable of building world-beating technology businesses.”

The Award was judged by a panel chaired by ScotlandIS deputy chairman Aydin Kurt-Elli, chairman of Lumison, and including John Innes, CEO of Amor Group; Jim Ferguson, COO of Axeon Power; Eddie Sinnott, director of multi-marketproducts, Wolfson Microelectronics; Mike Hambly, head of high-growth companies, Scottish Enterprise, Janette Harkness, policy director of the Scottish Council Development and Industry, Polly Purvis, Executive Director of ScotlandIS, and Alastair Balfour, Chair, 2in10 Ltd.
