UniCredit and KAL present at European ATMs 2012

Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel, London, 22nd and 23rd May 2012

European ATMs is Europe's premier ATM conference bringing together over 400 banks, independent deployers, network processors, vendors and service providers.

This year Fausto Bolognini, Head of Product Line Card Department at UniCredit Global Information Services, joined KAL CEO Aravinda Korala to present "Managing and Improving ATM network efficiency - How UniCredit was able to reduce Total Cost of Ownership whilst improving the ATM customer experience and reducing time to market".

UniCredit is a major international financial institution with strong roots in 22 European countries and an international network presence in more than 50. UniCredit has 160,000 employees and 9,496 branches. Benefitting from a strong European identity and broad customer base, UniCredit's strategic position in Western and Eastern Europe gives the group one of Europe's highest market shares.

Resulting from a variety of mergers the ATM network in Europe lacked uniformity. Encompassing 22 countries and a range of different national banking schemes and traditions, the network comprised +20,000 ATMs (incl.7,000 Intelligent Deposit), 4,000 kiosks and statement printers, and multiple hardware and software variations. Consequently the ATM network was very difficult to manage and it was impossible to establish a common IT approach and multichannel self-service strategy. The complexity also multiplied the investment required to develop the same business and security features and dramatically slowed down time to market with innovation.

UniCredit's rollout of KAL's multivendor ATM software is improving network efficiency, enhancing the customer experience and opening up new business opportunities. In this presentation Mr Bolognini shares learnings from UniCredit's new strategy for the ATM within a multichannel approach to self-service.
