US Patent Office grants KAL a patent for Kalignite Software Platform

KAL is pleased to announce that the US patent office has granted a patent for KAL’s Kalignite Software Platform (Patent No.: US 7,747,527 B1, granted 29-June-2010, with a priority date of 24 March 1998).

The Kalignite Software Platform is a middleware platform that resides within the ATM and provides a rich application development and runtime environment for ATMs, Kiosks and Branch automation devices. Built on the XFS global standard, it provides everything needed to create functionally-rich, robust, hardware independent applications.

The Kalignite Software Platform patent covers a software method for providing transaction services for one or more software applications to interact with the hardware in a way that is independent of the capabilities of the hardware device. The patent also includes methods to cover various additional services provided by the platform.

The Kalignite Platform supports a huge number of hardware devices and ATM types including coin recycling, cash recycling, bundled check deposit, bulk cash acceptance, passbooks and cash deposit as well as standard ATM devices such as card readers and pinpads.

ATM applications built upon the solid foundations of the Kalignite platform include KAL’s industry leading K3A Application and Kalignite NDC. In addition, there are a large number of other applications developed by KAL’s global network of partners using the Kalignite Platform.
