Why more banks are relying on ATMs
In our survey, we asked banks about evolving reliance on the ATM channel. 51% reported increased reliance on the ATM channel, compared to just 31% of banks in our 2024 report. A further 41% said their reliance on ATMs has stayed steady. Meanwhile, only a small minority (8%) claimed decreased reliance.
Global respondents weighed in on the different factors contributing to the growing need for ATMs, sharing unique market insights from The Philippines, UAE, Hong Kong, and other regions. Some points they raised included rising branch costs, increased demand for self-service, the resilience of cash and the expanding range of services ATMs can deliver.
