Lowering the total cost of ownership of the ATM network

Gruppo MPS logo

Gruppo Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SPA (MPS) was founded in 1472, making it the oldest bank in the world. Today, it has around 3,000 branches and operates a network of 2,500 ATMs.

The challenge: Reduce the purchase price and operating costs of the ATM network.

Project requirements

Gruppo MPS’s ATM network includes approximately 2500 ATMs from NCR, Diebold and Wincor. The bank wanted to lower the total cost of ownership by integrating the network.

The solution

KAL’s Kalignite Platform offers Gruppo MPS greater choice when selecting new models of ATM, allowing the bank the freedom to adopt a truly best of breed strategy and operate their network in the most cost efficient way possible. The migration has resulted in a great number of benefits for Gruppo MPS, particularly cutting the total cost of ownership. The bank is now in the process of certifying other vendors' ATMs for use in their network.

The Kalignite-based multivendor application was locally developed by KAL's partner NCH and the project represents Italy's first successful multivendor migration.
